Fence and Front Porch Staining in Old Greenwich, CT
Challenge
Mike L. called MDF Painting to remedy his fading front porch. Due to heavy foot traffic, the previous stain had lost its luster. The fading was especially noticeable on the steps from the family's comings and goings. Their fence surrounded their back yard and had not been re-painted for a long time.
Solution
To add some new color and life into his home, MDF started by power-washing the entire deck, back patio, and the cedar fence. Sanding off the deteriorating paint from the front porch was the first step. The deck color was custom matched using Sherwin Williams Woodscapes stain in a solid sheen. Painters got to work on the fence. Mike was torn about what color would pair best with the exterior for the fence. Samples of Sherwin Williams Woodscapes in Black Alder, Flagstone, and Kings Canyon were painted directly on the fence for the best comparison. The shades of gray were all very close, but the undertone of green in the Flagstone won out, especially with the stone back deck patio having similar shades. Painters applied two coats of the new stain for it to shine.
Mike's fence and front porch added youth to the entirety of his home! The fence color made everything come together, and he couldn't be more pleased with the results!
