Exterior Carpentry in Hamden, CT
Challenge
When Dana S. contacted MDF Painting for her exterior paint idea, she had some repairs in mind as well. Normally, MDF's protocol is to re-surface as needed on areas that have peeling paint. The damage on her exterior was too great for this, and Dana needed wood replacements for different sections of her home.
Solution
Underneath the dark blue paint, the exterior was red cedar. This material is ideal for siding for a few reasons. It's the least likely to crack or warp, the natural oils in cedar act as an insect repellent, it doesn't absorb heat, and it lasts longer than other synthetic materials. When painters replaced sections of siding, MDF was confident this repair would last. After repairs, the paint was color-matched for the siding and front door. Due to the existing and new wood on her home, Sherwin Williams Woodscapes collection was the best product choice. The paint was a solid finish to completely coat the wood in color, instead of the variations you might see in a semi-transparent stain. Dana was so happy with the results! Her brilliant blue and deep burgundy colors shine brightly after fresh paint!
