What to Look for When Hiring a Painting Contractor
Hiring someone for a job is never easy. Are they the right person for the job? Am I paying too much for this service? Will the work turn out as I had imagined it? These questions of self-doubt may come up. Luckily, we're able to provide an insider's perspective to help you choose the right person for the job every time.
When researching any contractor, the proof isn't in the pudding, but it is in the paper. Don't hesitate to ask for any certifications or credentials necessary to complete the home project. While every piece of proof is not necessary for every project, many are and it's better to be safe rather than sorry. Any contractor worth their salt will be happy to provide this information to you, if only to show their legitimacy. Look for OSHA Certifications, BBB Accreditation, State Business Licenses, Certificate of Insurance with Worker's Compensation, and Lead Paint Certification. Check out their social media presence, and see if they have a Facebook, Instagram, or even YouTube. Investigate their reviews through places like Angie's List, Home Advisor, and Google reviews. While you're on Google, look up their company name, if a lot of unhappy customers come up you may be dealing with a scam. Not every business does extensive background checks or drug test, so if you're feeling uneasy with someone, it might be better to weight different options. Even if you were hoping to just paint the exterior of your home, worker(s) will be in your space and near your belongings. Another thing to consider is if they have any warranty or happiness guarantee. A lack of interest in results may indicate that they aren't planning to stick around for the entire project.
