Charity Project: 10th Annual Golf Classic
MDF owner Mark recently contributed to M. J. Petretto Foundation through their annual golf classic. Each year, this foundation continues to help fund local organizations within the health, education and quality of life spectrum with the goal to build strong communities throughout Connecticut. The money raised from this organization primarily benefits the Gaylord Specialty Healthcare system. Most patients involved with these programs have lost use of their limbs. For this year’s Golf Classic, the contributions received went towards the following local charities:
- Gaylord Specialty Healthcare: Spinal Cord Injury program provides the long-term care needed for patients to rehabilitate.
-VNA Community Health Care: This organization provides long term care for those with Parkinson’s. Exercise classes are available twice weekly to help keep patients active. They also provide resources for families, including support group meetings, expert speakers, and simply encouraging camaraderie between families. Connecticut Parkinson's Working Group is a forum that helps spread information and sheds light on different challenges faced living with Parkinson's Disease.
-Shoreline Arts Alliance Partnering for Success: Started in Guilford in 1980, this organization helps to encourage art to be a part of the fabric in every community. They reach out to educational and artistic platforms throughout the state to assist in their development.
-A Better Chance: Also known as the ABC House in Guilford, this organization provides women opportunities to help with high school and college.
