Historic Home Restoration in Bridgeport, CT
Challenge
A historic property with a lot of character in the heart of the seaside area in Bridgeport got some much-needed TLC after years of neglect. This home is currently a multiple occupancy home that was originally built in 1898. The age of the home is taking its toll now. Holes from carpenter bees and woodpeckers had to be patched. The existing coat of exterior paint had been peeling in large areas, exposing bare wood to the elements. Due to all these factors, delicate handling and the right products were key to not only addressing current issues, but to prevent them from returning in the future.
Solution
Expert estimator Jamie had some ideas on tackling this project. For the areas in the wood exterior that needed repair, he suggested using 2-part Epoxy Wood Filler. To prevent future cracking and peeling, Jamie insisted on using slow drying oil primer. It creates the perfect surface for the paint to adhere to, and it extends the life of the paint. The project is smooth sailing so far. As you can see from the photos, the exterior paint after we started is looking so much better!
