Exterior Carpentry in East Hartford, CT
Challenge
Anne in East Hartford contacted MDF Painting to update the painting on the exterior of her home, and to perform light carpentry. She was unclear if the existing coat was paint or a stain and asked MDF to help. Painters needed to pressure wash deck, prepare all railings, stain the floor, stairs, and ramp with a semi-transparent stain and stain the spindles and top rail with a solid stain.
Solution
MDF coordinated with Sherwin Williams to determine what the previous job was on the exterior by taking in a chip. From there, it was decided the use Sherwin Williams Woodscapes in a sky blue shade when painting the siding. Carpentry work needed to be completed before painting. On the garage, the carpentry team replaced two pieces of siding, brick molding around door closest to the garage, the fascia trim corner, 10 sections of siding against the brick molding, and the wooden vent vertical sides and the bottom sill. Pieces of the crown molding around the front and back doors were swapped out with a different material. The drip edge on two windows and other sections of siding needed to be replaced on the right and left side. After sanding and priming, the trim was painted using Sherwin Williams Emerald Satin. The Bilco door paint was custom-matched to the house color in Sherwin Williams Industrial Enamel. Anne adored the new color of her home! MDF was happy to fix her home!
